“Working with BSL as an Intern for Black Dot/Africa Town has taught me a lot in the past 14 months and I am glad to have found this program. From financial literacy to mental health this program touches all aspects of growing up black and helped prepare me for adulthood. Through group conversation I was able to learn from others who have been in the same situation I was now and gave me information that they have acquired through their experiences; and I feel like that is very valuable information, learning from others’ mistakes so you do not have to repeat it yourself. Being able to speak my mind in a black space with nothing but support is just amazing. This program also helped me pay rent throughout my senior year of college through their internship so that also lifted a huge burden on me and let me focus on my studies instead of working part-time at some fast-food restaurant to make money. I appreciate everything this program has done for me.”
